Job Description

The Senior Director, Global Financial Solutions North America, reports to the Executive Director Global Financial Solutions (GFS) and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the North America GFS operations team with an emphasis on exceptional customer experience, process excellence, continuous improvement and innovation and best practice compliance at the core of what we do. This role is part of the Global GFS leadership team responsible for the global service delivery and strategic evolution of the GFS model. The role will be responsible for managing the service delivery of the North America GFS functions including Record to Report, Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash and Payroll.  This is a site based role in our Raleigh, NC shared services center.

Effectively managing the perceptions and expectations of senior management and business partners is critical to the success of this role in NA GFS Operations. 

*Specific Job Requirements: *

  • The focus of the role is to lead and develop the NA GFS operations team (approx. 48 staff on site) aligned to our global service delivery model, strategy and industry best practice. Key responsibilities include:

  • A member of Global GFS leadership team to provide vision and strategy for the Global GFS and delivering on goals that will advance the GFS global model for Gilead.  

  • The successful candidate will attract, lead & develop a team of highly capable skilled finance professionals to support Gilead’s business, encourage inclusiveness and aspire to create a great place to work.  

  • Represent GFS in Gilead Business Services Center (GBS) cross functional mgt. forums and a member of GBS leadership team with dotted line to GBS site lead. 

  • Sponsorship for NA GFS and GBS cross functional projects. 

  • Build proactive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and cultivate a culture of teamwork.  

  • Effective governance and performance management reviews with key customers and business partners. Accountability for service delivery against agreed and evolving KPI’s and service partnership agreement. 

  • Be an advocate to digitalize and automate shared services processes through agile execution and optimal use of technology.  

  • Maintain process integrity, internal controls, and ensure compliance with the Controller’s Manual, SOX controls and all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Strong knowledge of operational business processes.

  • Ability to review, interpret, and successfully manage the execution of cross functional projects. 

  • Demonstrated business and technology acumen. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, and 14 years’ progressive experience in Finance and Shared Services OR master’s degree and 12 years’ experience in Finance and Shared Services.

  • Multi-national organization experience, including at least 5 years as a senior finance leader, people manager and business partner is required.   

  • Ability to create and lead a continuous improvement and innovation culture is required. 

  • Extensive knowledge with SAP or best practice ERP systems is required.

  • Knowledge of accounting and finance and knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls is required. 

  • Proven ability to build credibility and trust with a diverse audience and be perceived as a leader.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) is required

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in a global Finance organization

  • Prior experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals

The salary range for this position is: $216,070.00 - $279,620.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
