Job Description

This position is responsible for developing market access strategies and account management for the entire Gilead Oncology portfolio. These key strategies are developed in alignment with company business objectives during the development, launch, and life cycle management of the portfolio. This position ensures ongoing assessment and adaption of strategies to maintain optimal market access and will work collaboratively with Managed Markets, commercial leadership, and government affairs to ensure smooth cooperation between all Gilead Oncology and Kite stakeholders. Additionally, the role is responsible for the continued buildout of the entire Gilead Oncology market access-related functions, and the scope for this role and associated team encompasses Key Accounts, National Accounts, and Field Reimbursement function for U.S. Oncology. This position demands an ability to work strategically and operationally in equal amounts.

This position is Field Based.

  • Develops Oncology market access strategies and ongoing assessment and adapt strategies from product development through launch and life cycle management, including pricing, reimbursement, and payer strategies. Monitors trends and developments to proactively identify needs and actions to support the value proposition of our portfolio across a multitude of payer environments.

  • Ensures integration of market access and payer perspectives into product development plans at all stages of development in close collaboration with Global Value & Access and Global Commercial Product Strategy (GCPS) Therapeutic Leads.

  • In collaboration with U.S. Medical Affairs, Kite, and the U.S. Commercial leadership, develop Key Account Management (KAM) strategies to ensure that Gilead is improving patient lives by aligning account needs and external stakeholder value drivers to the Gilead Oncology portfolio.

  • Support Key Accounts and Field Sales to drive appropriate access within Academic, Institutional, and Community Oncology Organizations.

  • Develop a deep understanding of accounts, including customer engagement needs and preferences, to drive defined solutions with tailored account stakeholder communications to enhance account experience.

  • Drive the development of account-specific strategic plans of action (POAs), including a detailed assessment of key influencers and decision-makers at each account and the composition of stakeholder networks.

  • Provide strong collaboration with key internal stakeholders within Managed Markets, Oncology Brand Teams, and Sales.

  • Interfaces with critical Oncology Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) stakeholders to drive company strategy and implementation, including supporting in-practice programs and critical quarterly/annual events aligned with Kite counterparts for shared relationship building.

  • Leadership representation f=for market access with all key Oncology stakeholders, including but not limited to ASCO, COA, ACCC, ASH,(ION, Onmark, Unity, Vitalsource GPO's), Oncology State Societies, and Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA).

  • In partnership with Medical Affairs and GV&A, provide overall product value demonstration strategies and evidence generation, including maximization of health economics, HTA, and quality of life outcomes and development of global value dossiers.

  • Develops pricing strategies and ongoing assessment and adaptation of methods to ensure an optimal balance of revenue, volume, margin, and access across the portfolio and geographies.

  • Leads the development of the pricing strategy, including recommendations for global price bands and launch sequence; involved with creating and updating financial forecasts

  • Partners with regional business leaders to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of global strategies to regions and countries.

  • Partner with Corporate Affairs for pricing and market access assessments and diligence of potential new M&A and licensing targets

  • Maintain an overall Market Access team focused on Oncology and attract/retain leading talent to Gilead in this regard.

  • Develop full managed markets strategic plans for current and in development assets implementing key market access activities aligned with Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, and broader managed markets organization.

Has responsibility for oversight and effective management of all team members to include but not limited to the following:

  • Annual objective setting

  • Mid-year and end of year reviews

  • Coaching and counseling as appropriate

  • Employee development

  • Recruitment, selection, and development of talent

  • Managing, directing & measuring work on an ongoing basis. Provides timely & constructive feedback to ensure quality of work meets or exceeds company standards

  • Assuring work is completed in a customer-focused manner

  • Experience working on high-value products within Oncology/Hematology required

  • Good understanding of U.S. and E.U. market access environment and decision makers; product launch experience in market access required

  • Strong collaboration skills capable of influencing internal and other decision-makers

  • Strong communication skills capable of engaging senior executives and other audiences

  • Strong leadership, people management, influencing and motivating skills and the ability to manage complexity where both strategic and tactical skills are required

  • Strong thought leadership and strategic thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to identify business issues/opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Sixteen Years' Work Experience


Master's Degree and Fourteen Years' Work Experience


Ph.D. and Fourteen Years' Work Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent; MBA preferred

  • Current Oncology and Buy and Bill product distribution experience.

  • 15+ years experience with 10+ relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, including leadership roles in areas such as market access, pricing, health economics and outcomes research, with deep experience in the U.S. market preferred

  • Expertise in associated relevant legal, compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Prior experience and success in one or more Oncology focused areas: account management including strategy roles requiring complex, multi-year initiatives); operations roles, and; customer-facing roles

  • Solid track record of leading teams with managing multiple functions is preferable

For Colorado Job Applicants: The salary range for this position is:

$238,160.00 - $357,240.00

Gilead considers a range of factors, including background and experience, when determining base compensation. These considerations means actual compensation will vary.
